The "brittle bone" disease, osteoporosis, is one of the least understood and most hotly debated chronic degenerative diseases in medical science today.  Affecting millions of women (and men, too!), it is a leading cause of death and disability that may be almost completely preventable. The course presents the latest in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention strategies, and includes lots of patient education materials.
Course objectives include:
• Outline the physiological sequence of events leading to osteoporosis.
• List five lifestyle factors contributing to the risk for osteoporosis.
• Identify ways to minimize fractures in patients with osteoporosis
